Alekos Nikakis, onetime conservator for the 24th Ephorate at Ayios Nikolaos, busy at conservation in the French School at Malia.

After the 2007 and 2008 campaigns, we covered the site up with olive netting and earth to protect the remains from winter erosion and damage but we are progressivey consolidating standing architecture to turn the place into a site that can be visited.

Thanks to Barry Molloy of the Priniatikos Pyrgos excavations (Irish Institute at Athens), we will soon be joining them in an apothiki within Ayios Nikolaos for storage of the Sissi material.
